Go Home

So he set out and came to his father. But when he was still a long way off, his father saw him and felt compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.

– Luke 15:20

WELCOME HOME SON!! The story of the prodigal son was given and taught to a mixed group. There were religious leaders among them as well as people who were considered sinners. The first group was known to look down on sinners and considered them to be unclean, Jesus challenged this thinking by teaching on how important all are to the Father. This story can hit home for a lot of us, how do we see our Father in heaven? Is he ready to berate us and beat us every time we sin or rebel? How do we see ourselves? Do we want to serve Him and behave a certain way to be accepted? The truth is we need to see our Heavenly Father how the father is expressed in this passage. He is one who runs towards us, protecting us from harm, throwing his arms around us, ever accepting us. Nothing we do can change the fact that we are His Children, the father in the story did not allow the son to speak or to be a servant, but accepted him as his son, despite his wayward life. The revelation that Jesus gives us of our Father is one that He will always accept us as his children, we ARE His despite anything I do, I cannot out sin His Love.
